I’ve been wanting to write a blog post on my favorite drugstore skincare products for a while now, but I just love so many that it’s really hard to choose which ones are my favorite.
I have really dry sensitive skin, especially in the winter, so it’s so important to me to find products that will hydrate my skin and retain its moisture without causing any irritation.
While I absolutely love face and skin care brands such as Origins, Lush, and Mad Hippie, these products can become a little too pricey for me. Don’t get me wrong, these brands are amazing and do wonders to my skin. I even have a Lush favorites post coming soon, but I’m on a budget right now and have to go the alternative drugstore route.
*Just FYI, drugstore skincare and makeup products are great alternatives to expensive retail brands and can still provide great beneficial results.
The products I’m about to go over are facial skincare products, and I use all these products on a regular basis and love them! This is my honest review of these products and I’m not getting any kind of commission or compensation for talking about them. Brand new baby blogger here remember 😊 Let’s start with the cleansers, shall we?
1.Neutrogena Naturals Fresh Cleansing + Makeup Remover
This is the best facial cleanser and makeup remover that I’ve used so far. What I love about this cleanser is that it literally will take off ALL of the day’s makeup, including eye makeup, which I don’t know about you guys but that’s the hardest part of my face to get completely clean.
When I first started using this cleanser, I thought that it might be too harsh on my skin because it does such a great job at removing my makeup, but it actually left my skin feeling soft and smooth, even around the eye area.
This is a great two in one facial cleanser free of any chemicals or dyes. I have yet to find any other cleanser that compares to this one.
2.Biore Witch Hazel Pore Clarifying Toner
I really love this toner because it has helped me tremendously in fighting acne breakouts. I’ve tried a lot of other acne fighting cleansers, scrubs and exfoliators, and creams but this is the only drugstore product that has successfully made a difference in the number of breakouts that I get.
This toner contains salicylic acid acne treatment that penetrates pores to help reduce and prevent acne breakouts. I normally would gravitate more to a natural acne fighting product, but I found that the Birore Witch Hazel Toner actually does a super great job with controlling my acne breakouts, and is a really affordable price.
*Another FYI, this toner will dry out your skin a little bit because of the salicylic acid, so make sure you’re using a really great moisture right after applying the toner. Which leads us into our number 3 facial product.
3. Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel Moisturizer
Okay, I absolutely love love love this moisturizer!! This is the best moisturizer to hydrate dry skin. Once I apply this to my face, I instantly feel a difference. My skin feels so soft and smooth. Almost like I want to just keep touching it all day. Weird because I never like to touch my face, but this product will want to make you.
This moisturizer has a gel like consistency and contains hyaluronic acid, which is naturally found in the skin and is used for dry skin cells. It’s not oily at all, which I know some moisturizers can be. This can be a daytime or nighttime moisturizer. I mainly use it at night because that’s when my skin is the driest, but anytime of day will work.
I have used so many moisturizers throughout my life, and this one is by far my absolute favorite. It might be a little pricey for a drugstore product ($14.99) but it’s definitely worth it.
4.Simple Protecting Light Moisturizer With SPF 15
I know I already mentioned my favorite moisturizer to use, so you’re probably wondering why I’m even adding this one to the list. Every once in a while, I like to use a moisturizer with SPF, especially if I know I’m going to be outside. This is a great daytime moisturizer that leaves my skin feeling soft and hydrated. I love this brand because it caters to sensitive skin types, which I very much am.
I was a little skeptical to use this moisturizer at first because moisturizers that contain SPF are usually very oily, but this one was surprisingly light weight and didn’t irritate my skin at all. This is a great SPF moisturizer for very sensitive skin.
5. Burt’s Bees Brightening Eye Treatment
I normally don’t use an eye cream but I just recently started to get back into eye creams. I noticed in pictures (and from family members not so subtle comments) that I’m looking a little more tired these days, which I totally am. Eight months pregnant here, duh.
I love this Burt’s Bees eye treatment because it targets so many problem areas such as the appearance of dark spots and discoloration, to reducing puffiness, wrinkles and fine lines. This eye treatment does it all. Plus, it’s a natural eye treatment that can be used during the daytime or at nighttime.
I usually don’t have a problem with puffiness in the eye area, but this eye cream has helped reduce the dark circles under my eyes from lack or sleep, or third trimester insomnia.
Well there ya have it. My review of the best drugstore skin care products. I hope you all enjoyed. Let me know if you guys use any of these products yourselves, or if you have any other really great drugstore skin care products that you would recommend. I’m always down for finding and trying new products.
